Pot Noodle Sandwich

Love it or hate it, it’s totally a thing. The mighty pot noodle sandwich is here to stay.

Let’s just address the elephant in the room – some people eat pot noodle sandwiches, and I am one of those people. We all know it happens behind closed doors, and if you didn’t, well today’s post is going to be an eye-opener. Follow me…

Pot Noodle

Okay I’ll give it to you, slapping a pot noodle between two slices of bread is pretty rough and ready. But quite frankly one pot noodle just simply isn’t enough. We need more carbs and we need them now. Well, we don’t, but you get my drift.

What Pot Noodle Flavour to use?

Ask me my favourite pot noodle flavour and before you’ve even finished the sentence I’ll have already squawked ‘Bombay Bad Boy’ in your face. However, for a sandwich? It’s Chicken & Mushroom. Don’t ask – I don’t make the rules.

But Chris, won’t the sandwich be soggy?

Firstly, yes. But to reduce the sog just ensure the noodle sauce is thicker than you’d regularly make. Filling the water just beneath the line and allowing it to soak for an extra couple of minutes will help.

The Bread

The bread choice is important. Ditch the posh stuff, we’re going for good old trusty sandwich bread. You know, the type of bread that sticks to the roof of your mouth with every bite? Yep, that’s the stuff.

Now, instinctively yes you’d think toasting it would be the way forward, you know, to help offer a sturdier sandwich. But no. Rule number 1 of pot noodle sandwich club, never toast. Having said that we do want thick slices, just to help keep the sandwich intact and really ensure you get indigestion immediately after.

Let there be butter!

And lots of it. Us Brits love a butty and this is no exception. Slather it on both slices and don’t look back.

Eat it fast before the realisation of what you’re doing seeps in; similar to how the sauce seeps into the soft bread.

Anything else or alongside?ย

I’ve seen cheese, I’ve even seen ketchup, but quite frankly this is all just noise we don’t need to be hearing. Bread, Butter, Pot Noodle. That’s it. Okay, maybe some crisps on the side but for crying out loud nothing else inside.

See, isn’t it a thing of beauty? ๐Ÿฅฐ

Equipment

  • Fork
  • Kettle
  • Knife & Chopping Board

Ingredients

  • 1x Pot Noodle
  • 4 thick slices of Soft White Sandwich Bread
  • Butter, as needed

Instructions

  • Cook pot noodle to packet instruction. I usually fill to just below the line and soak for an extra couple of minutes so it's not so watery.
  • Butter 4 slices of bread. Add pot noodle to two of those slices, then add the other slices on top.
  • Tuck in and enjoy!

Notes

a) Pot Noodle - In my opinion, Chicken & Mushroom is the classic for a sandwich. But go wild with any flavour.
b) Bread - Toast makes more sense, but it's gotta be soft bread - hence why you want nice thick slices so the sandwich doesn't fall apart!

Here in the Pacific Northwest, I’m assuming we can use other brands of ramen noodles?

There were 12 weeks of my life where this kept me alive. Also can be enjoyed open faced with cheese melted on top.

Loving your website. Some of these recipes are unhinged but unifying in their insanity.
